This film is surely an Oscar nod, if anything, Redmayne's second high power film two years in a row. Some brilliant acting both by Eddie Redmayne and Alice Vikander, who play the married couple, the two main protagonists. The film gives a good and strong insight into transgendered life and their struggles during the turn of the century, especially when medical advances were still much more risky than in today's age and the much riskier decisions a transgendered must make in order to be true to themselves. However, this is also a film about a loving devoted wife who continues to support her "husband" throughout the film. If anything, this film feels more as if told by the eye of Gerda, the wife of the lead character.
