France, 2013, 104 minutes Comedy
When soap star Gauthier Valence (Lambert Wilson) turns up on the doorstep of recluse Serge Tanneur (Fabrice Lucini) and asks him to be supporting role in his new production of Molière's Le Misanthrope, Serge's dormant acting spirit is rekindled. However, when rehearsals begin we see that things are not destined to run smoothly. Both men want the main role, Alceste. Neither will capitulate without a fight. And as these strong lead roles battle it out, Philipe le Guay inspiringly intertwines both play and plot to expose a ferocious power struggle, a love for the music of poetry and a laugh for forgotten companionship. This film will inspire all those literary enthusiasts as the vibrant verse leaps from the screen.
