At almost four hours in length, Norte isn't an easy prospect for even the most dedicated cinephile. However, after concluding my first viewing I instantly wanted to put aside 250 minutes to view it again. For fans of the visual-arts, Norte has an unmatched spectacle. Every scene is given space to breathe and every shot is meticulously framed. But the visuals are only half of it, the narrative, loosely based on Crime and Punishment, asks some big questions of the audience. Slow, contemplative and highly rewarding, I strongly recommending setting aside the time to absorb this sure to be classic.
