Now this was something of a rare treat. It's not often the French make a film that's so bad it's good, they never really quite mastered the art (unlike the Americans). But 'Gigola' certainly qualifies. See! Stilted dialogue and OTT performances! See! Lesbian sex and intrigue swimming in outrageous costumes and loud wallpaper! See! Arthouse hottie Eduardo Noriega not having a clue why he's in this europudding! Chuck in Almodovar stalwart/Picasso-a-like Rossy De Palma as a boozy nightclub chanteuse, lots of fag-puffing and a smoking gun, and you have a film that needs to be seen to be believed. If this is what Paris was like in the Sixties, well then beam me there, Scottie!
