Pang Ho-Cheung is a chameleon-like director, having a go at every genre and, quite frankly, being successful at every one of them. From powerful dramas like "Isabella" or "Exodus", solid comedies like "Beyond our Ken" to naughty films like "AV" or even social slasher (yes, social) "Dream Home", one thing is clear: Pang gets Hong Kong society. Imagine him as Hong Kong's Kevin Smith, if you like, and add having a more consistent filmography (sorry, Kev!) and you might get a grasp of what a treat his films can be.

"Vulgaria" is one of those films that are just meant to be enjoyed. Following the spirit of "AV", Pang gives a naughty portrait of the Hong Kong adult industry, and film making in general. It may not be as clever as other of his films, but the gags are refreshing, the screenplay is witty enough to keep you laughing and Chapman To provides a funny character to the story. Overall, this is one enjoyable movie that makes vulgar humor funnily intelligent.
