This film is one of the less well-known gems of director  extraordinaire Lav Diaz.   It's a dystopian, science-fiction sort of movie that will amaze viewers for the grand ideas as well as the commendable performances of its cast. Set 9 years into the future, from the time it's filmed which is 2002,  it shows the Philippines being taken over by a military junta and with living conditions going from bad to worst. The central character of the movie is Hesus Mariano (Mark Anthony Fernandez) who's a rock musician, scholar, poet and warrior. A movie which can be seen as a political satire with a committed political stance, it stars well-known veteran actors Ronnie Lazaro and Pinky Amador with a special participation by another filmmaker, Joel Lamangan.  Worth checking out!
