Kévin Azaïs' Arnaud is all wide-eyed and adorable, but it is Adele Haenel (Waterlilies, House of Tolerance) who steals every scene she's in, as the gutsy hard-as-nails Madeleine, the object of Arnaud's affection. A refreshingly upbeat coming-of-ager, with a hot Gallic electro soundtrack, things kick off in style but the plot gets a little too high-minded for its tender britches in the final act, with heavy metaphors dragging things down a bit. Well worth a punt though, as Adele and Kevin are exciting new faces in French cinema.
