Lengthy film that tackled student rebellion, activism, the hippie generation, communal love, HIV and more rebellion. Some viewers will see it as informative while others are kinda put off because of some scenes that seem to drag for quite long. But for me the saving grace here would be the actress Laetitia Casta who put out a very powerful and intense performance as Catherine. I'd like to think one of the reasons she clinched the role was her glorious figure, it was noted that she appeared naked for countless times in this film. Her acting capacity is unquestionable, too, as she has that genuine charm that lights up every scene she's in. Her portrayal of Catherine evokes that unusual dose of fire from within. I'd like to think that people born during the earlier years of upheavals, around the '60s and '70s, can easily relate to this film.
