An almost perfect 5 star rating for this Dolphy-starrer! Well-loved in the Philippines as a comedian, he sheds his wacky side and gets painfully true and realistic in this film of an ageing gay who recounts his youth as a violated gay youth during World War II. Dolphy displays a matured and glowing portrayal of Markova while his two real-life sons, Jeffrey and Eric portray the young and middle-age Markova, respectively. While Eric acted well it was Jeffrey who wowed the viewers with his quirky and heart-wrenching portrayal of a young gay coming out of a closet. And for that, he earned the nods of two renowned award-giving bodies in local cinema. This is definitely a must-watch especially for comedy genre fans and get to discover Dolphy in a whole new light!
