The basic virtues of propriety and decency are well pronounced in this big-budget and large scale 2010 production of Confucius which is a remaking of the 1940 film by Fei Mu.  The timely philosophical messages come alive in the war torn country of China six centuries B.C. Although merely a commoner, Confucius gave emphasis to education, music, calligraphy, and the other arts which to him became the foundation for his successful venture as a military strategist, scholar, negotiator, philosopher and leader. He became mayor, minister and performed advisory functions. He helped end the burial of living servant children with their masters. He reclaimed land lost from war, won wars, won negotiations without the loss of life. But eventually, there would be wars that he cannot avoid. His annals would influence the future leaders of China and of the world to this day. Confucius' legacy lives on and included in the roster of great wise men and leaders such as Lao Tsu, Sun Tzu and Miyamoto Musashi.
