A brilliant, rare film from the 90's with a solidly optimistic message, namely about being comfortable in your own skin as a young gay man. Pity, and strange, that you don't see more films like this today. The cold, brutalist cinder-block setting of East-East London's Thamesmead (which I can only remember being used elsewhere in A Clockwork Orange) is the perfect backdrop to a very warm, summer story full of very British laughs. Without a doubt, this film made a huge difference to many young men at the time, and hopefully still does.
