Fans of Ciro Guerra's will get well and truly lost in this masterpiece, which will swallow you up whole. We follow a tribe in the Amazon jungle in the early 1900s. The black and white truly puts the majesty of nature and its forces at the fore, and the score is lush with the life and activity of the rainforest. You could just listen to this film and fall into it. I was reminded a little of Fitzcarraldo, as courtesy of our German visitors and their strange adventures, we become absorbed into the story. The native rnindigenous actors give performances that are better than anything you'd see come out of a trained actor's school. This is an extraordinary experience that words cannot do justice to.
