Another one of those 80's teen comedies that proudly straddled the Family and Teen genres - an utter rarity these days - yet gets everything right. Shue is superb, her mettle and comic timing sharp and brimming with fizz. The supporting cast are all highly sympathetic and get at least one zinger line each. What could have been an extremely pedestrian film full of unbelievable mishaps strung together by a flimsy plot, is anything but. Interestingly, Penelope Ann Miller, as Shue's nerdy best friend stuck in a bus station who gets a smattering of short scenes, has the most memorable moments. This is one of those films that gets better with repeat viewings.
