While in Benin looking for Germain, Cecile comes face to face with an African mother who, in a moment of emotion, hands Cecile her baby by leaving it on the ground by a roadside where she parked her car. She confronts the mother, asks her why but she runs off to the bushes. Germain advises her to take the child to the orphanage but she refuses and decides to take care of the baby herself. She had to come face to face with a mountain of opposition including superstitious dogma, but eventually succeeds in bringing the kid to live with her and her friend in Bordeaux. The rest of the story is about their travel back to Africa to discover the mystery of Lancelot’s abandonment. This is the plight of abandoned children in Africa.
