Just like the Grimm fairy tales with "grim" origins, Fearful John is another fantasy story reminiscent of the dark fairy tales we now consider magical thanks to Disney. I find the storytelling of Maria to be truly captivating and engaging. It has decent visuals and the story within a story approach is great.  It reminds me of the repeatedly told  horror stories my childhood friends would always talk to me about. Except there were no scarecrows of such to intervene out of nowhere. :)
