Upondo no Nkinsela Synopsis

In this madcap early South African caper, Pondo and Nkinsela are two haphazard, dysfunctional friends who end up going on a series of crazy adventures together. From ruining a bride’s wedding day, to destroying a client’s hairdo in a beauty salon, to escaping a supposed ghost in a house they have just broken into, the two friends always seem to come out on top despite the havoc they cause everywhere they go.

The two lead stars are both commendable in their acting, staying true to being comedic actors. The misadventures were quite amusing to watch, from ruining a girl's wedding and in the process swaddling her with too much mud, to a beauty salon mishap that got clients so furious and other unfortunate events that showcase the mischievous side of these guys.  There's also a sort of narrator with a funny voice, viewers can imagine a rat talking.  Not totally hilarious but there are sort of wacky scenes that will make you chuckle anyway.

There's a lot of slapstick comedy tricks in this film that makes some of the scenes quite funny. Not laugh out loud type of comedy though, although you will be clearly amused with this duo that seems to encounter all kinds of mishaps and misadventures. Of the two, it's definitely the actor who plays the role of Pondo who appears to be stupid and with a queer mind at times.  It's quite enjoyable to watch though and viewers are given a taste of genuine African comedy at its simplest.
