The peculiarly titled Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives continues Apichatpong Weerasethakul's trademark style of creating slow, mediative and rewarding works for all those willing to endure them. Though maybe endure isn't the correct term as Uncle Boonmee is both Weerasethakul's most accessible and most profound film to date. Unburdened by dramatic revelations and contrived character arcs, its a quiet, peaceful work punctuated by subtle moments of uneasy. A hauntingly beautiful and wholly original film that I'd recommend highly.
