The Way Home will take multiple plays and rewinds to understand. The button pressing will start near the end when viewers realize its tragic end. Upon multiple plays, audiences will understand how a motherly relationship ended tragically. For its poetically hidden messages, The Way Home scores high. Its only downfall is its difficulty to understand and appreciate.

Ouch!  This s a painful film.  Not because of the way it's made, more because of the subject matter.  It's a beautiful film, cleverly shot.   Think of it as dark, moody and wet.  Really wet.  When you get where it's going you'll probably want to watch it again to understand how you got there.  Then again, as it's so dark, moody and wet, you might not.  The only reason I gave it 4/5 is because I really did get lost along the way.

I really enjoyed this film. The silence between the two main characters in the first half  emphasises the awkwardness in their minimal interactions which develop as each interaction becomes more significant or sentimental. Through dialogue, they each reveal the complex dimensions in each other's character. The rain throughout the film seems to work as pathetic fallacy which foreshadows the sombre tone in the story line, the same way that the girl's humming becomes her motif which continues through to the end, creating a particularly haunting effect at the end following the revelation of the twist in the plot. This short film is intense and slowly paced with an unexpected thrilling ending.

A love-hate relationship gone wrong... Gone terribly wrong... The Way Home buries the truth of its reality in a an interaction between a school boy and a school girl. For most of the film, the truth is masked by the "push and pull" approach of the school girl together with the reluctance of the school boy . All of this will be presented to viewers in a possibly needless slow pace. At the end, viewers will be shocked when the film will partially show the awful truth.  "A family tragedy was caused by both love and hate."
