Touted as a small film with big ambitions, this movie is peculiarly endearing and genuine in its own way. The lead character is Michelle, played by Mercedes Cabral, a renowned Filipina indie actress but the film's focal point is the house, her house, located by the bamboo grove. Michelle has a deeply-ingrained fondness for her house and the lingering shots of the house, beetles, the stream and the area surrounding it all connotes permanence, ecological harmony and attunement with nature.  In a way, the film also invites viewers to ponder on the message of permanence and staying put in one's country at a time of massive migration. Yet another masterpiece from up and coming director Alvin Yapan.
