THE FUTURE is one of these films with interesting characters, little to no plot, and situations that unfold gradually. Not for everyone then. There are quite a lot of quirky, happy-go-lucky type films out there at the moment, so it's fair enough to question if we need another one with THE FUTURE. But Miranda July, fresh from the delightful YOU,ME AND EVERYONE WE KNOW, reaches the delicate balance between schmaltzy weird sentimentality and engaging, poignant eccentricity. The soundtrack from Jon Brion is a masterpiece that illustrates the film perfectly. I'd recommend to anyone who enjoys a good talking cat and quirky romance.
