So genuinely surprised to see Ms. Cherie Gil in top form with this indie gem of a film! This seasoned actress, known for contravida (antagonist) roles shines in this film about a former opera singer who goes back home to her native Negros town, just about to surrender on life and living. But she regains her usual bubbly self and finds meaning again in life, thanks to a good-natured boy who didn't give up on her. Heartwarming and a movie that shows a lot of contrasts like wealth and poverty as well as tragedy and beauty. Ms. Cherie Gil won a Best Actress award for this film from the ASEAN International Film Festival. With the powerhouse directorial duo of Gallaga and Reyes, what can ever go wrong with this compelling film! Definitely a must-watch!
