Thomas has been estranged from his brother, Luc, for years, but when he is diagnosed with a potentially fatal blood disorder, he turns up on his doorstep asking for help. Luc agrees to accompany him to the hospital where the doctors seem unable to halt Thomas' painful decline. Cutting through time between wintry Paris and summery Brittany, the fraternal relationship develops and gains strength as all hope and life appears to drain out of Thomas.
