Personally, I don't know where the idea came from  but it looks like self-inflicting pain rather than liberation, or maybe liberation was taken quite literally.  Before the man started snipping on his own flesh, he watched a barrage of TV programs that consisted of sports,  violence, sex and soap operas, among others. Still, to say it was the only motivation would be an understatement. Thus,  while viewing the film, one may conclude that this man could have been harboring other issues as well, issues not shown or indicated but were somehow there, right from the start.  Blood, flesh and more blood.  I sincerely didn't enjoy watching this, blood from killings seem more understandable, but blood because of someone doing it to oneself is quite unthinkable.
