Very interesting to watch the fast-paced action in the scenes and with Rojak as the center of attraction.  The narrator explains that the local dish also characterizes the multi-faced society of Malaysia,  giving viewers a glimpse of the different types of citizens and a glimpse on social and political scenarios.  The film is done in rotoscope and while it has an animation-like quality still the viewers will come to understand that there is a tone of seriousness in the story even as the narrator speaks in a hurried way.  Interesting how the rojak can also bring everybody else together, in unity and in peace as evidenced in the final scene.  Creative and engaging to watch!

I admire the way the social political situation in Malaysia was characterized,  through the food called Rojak.  The seller was so keen to compare this delicacy to various characters and social norms.  The keen observation of the various conflicts in society leading to its political scenarios were well- explained while still on the subject of the food.  According to the seller, curry sauce holds the delicacy together, just like it is with the country, despite the differences in culture, beliefs and ideals, Rojak and cendo, which I believe is like a sweetened dessert complete with crushed ice, holds these people together.  When it comes to these delicacies,  the people become as one.  The animation was also commendable and film scoring was laudable.

  • A clever comparison of  multi-racial Malaysia with that of local food called rojak.  Cendo makes me think of the local "halo-halo" dessert, perfect to eat during scorching summer days.
