In Room 104 in a picturesque Neopolitan hospital, five middle-aged men live together. They all have had different experiences but share a common love of food, which due to their health has become a forbidden fruit and has made them friends. In order to pass time, the banker, the professor, the officer worker, the green grocer and the wine merchant decide to organize a big dinner for Saturday night, when the surveillance has been relaxed. But when they are discovered, they do not give up and barricade themselves in their room, claiming their right to choose. But a great many things happen before a new day dawns.
