A mix of drama and absurd humor! This movie that revolves around Julien and his family tackles anti-Semitism and family conflicts but also gives viewers a peek into Jewish humor and issues concerning Jews. The performances are commendable with Xavier Gallais as Julien seen as a focal figure in this film. Gallais is known as a theater play and stage director and this has been given emphasis especially during that scene where he was having a stand-up show with a gleaming bulb in tow. The actuations are typically theatrical, and he suits the role of Julien quite nicely.
