Nairobi Half Life Synopsis

Mwas, a young aspiring actor from upcountry Kenya dreams of becoming an accomplished actor one day, and in pursuit of this, he makes his way to Nairobi, the city of opportunity.

He quickly understands why Nairobi is nicknamed Nairoberry as he is relieved of all his money and belongings and left alone in a city where he doesn’t know a soul. Luck or the lack of it brings Mwas face to face with the city’s criminals, one of whom he forms a friendship with - a small time crook with ulterior motives. He is quickly drawn into a world of crime as he struggles to pursue his dream of becoming an actor.

Keeping the two worlds separate proves to be a challenge for Mwas as he steps into this unknown world called Nairobi.

You'd have to be a Nairobi Half Wit to pass up watching Nairobi Half Life! Mwas is a stand-up lad who's pretty down on his luck so I'm right there with him when he starts wagging guns in people's faces. "I'm Mwas as hell and I'm not gonna' take it anymore!" Even I reckon I'd resort to robbing people if playing fair meant having to clean a toilet as disgusting the one in this film. Holy moly! Or should I say...halfly moly?

  • Best Kenyan Movie I have ever watched. Liked the transition from Rural to Urban Area . From Kikuyu to Sheng' to English. It speaks wholly about Nairobi.
