Mouse-X Synopsis

Mouse-X is a mystery/sci-fi story about Anderson, a man who wakes in a building with no idea where he is or how he got there, before slowly discovering that in each of the rooms around him are a thousand clones of himself, all of whom woke into the same mysterious scenario. To escape he needs to outwit his 'selves' whilst overcoming the realization that he is not the only Anderson.

Mouse-X has a thriller-esque manner of unfolding its plot. Audiences will join the protagonist as he unfolds his present predicament. Eventually, everyone will realize that the protagonist is in some sort of human experiment. This short could be improved by showing what the scientists behind the experiment are doing. Knowing the purpose of the experiment would further help viewers digest Mouse-X.

Lab mice anyone? Mouse-X treats Anderson, the main character, as a lab mouse and shows the utter futility of his existence. Viewers will take a journey with Anderson in the hopes that he can escape the "lab". His surprise at the beginning is believable and his actions after recognizing what he is doing is understandable. However, no matter how brilliant Anderson or the viewer might be, they will end up back as a simple lab mouse. I would rate this short film higher if there was at least a glimpse of what the lab scientists are trying to achieve. For now though, this is a solid 3 stars.

Don't want to be Anderson! This film reminds me of Cube - I know it is very different but the surrounding and the never ending entrapment is just the same. The surreal scene and the suffocating thought of being imprisoned in a place that kind of replicates itself - mind-boggling!! This short film will keep you on the edge of your seat.

  • the idea of  replication is indeed creepy except maybe if you're a housewife who has to do multi-tasking!
