Way better than it has any right to be, considering the seen-it-a-thousand-times-before plot, this is a real hoot to watch. The casting of the leading ladies and a script that is sharper than a box of knives are the reasons why Mean Girls is so deliciously man and enjoyable. It even goes to some unexpectedly dark places and still manages to extract a gag. Very much a movie ahead of its time, yet still no teen comedy has come close to its wickedness.
