Coming of age films, especially in the LGBT genre, often portray younger men. This films is a modern (and refreshing) twist on this. Helmer, the protagonist of the movie, cares for his elderly father whilst also taking care of the farm where they both live. the cinematography of the film depicts how mundane both their lives are. Helmer hires a farmhand to help out which evokes emotions (on both halves) of feelings they clearly have tried to repress. Without spoiling the ending of the film, this movie presents recurring themes which resonates with the viewer (such as the crow) - it is a slow burner, but well worth watching as I think everyone can relate to aspects of the film even if you don't identify as LGBT.
