Change is inevitable, but is not enough for foolhearted dreamers. Inhalation's often too raw camera work and straightforward dialogue roots its message in our own struggle with change. The dialogue between Mei and Seng is practical as it is deep. The film's premise forces them to discuss change as a matter of fact and life. Change will threaten their relationship and force Mei to come to terms with her present life. Noteworthy are the artistic subtle messages on how to do the latter. Viewers should watch out for the "no-cut" scene transition from Mei's departure to her arrival and the water droplets from a faucet transitioning to drops on a river with cherry-blossom like flowers.
