rnrnA brilliant and classic film.    Veryrnintelligent, high quality, top-notch and yet very simple work.    Now, at the end of 2016, looking back atrnlate 90s when romantic, passionate, intimate and sexual relationship between women (or men) was arn"taboo" this movie nailed the beginning of our cultural revolution and itrnwell communicated it in the art form.    Similarly to 70s, when this film wasrnmade (in late 90s) many thought it was "weird" and it probably was at thatrntime, but now looking back it really captured the change in our culture.       It's simple, crazy, destructive, sad andrnromantic ....all at the same time.    Irnabsolutely loved it!     Great story, very talented actors, bohemianrnlifestyle, brilliant dialog, simple to follow......a phenomena that cannot bernmissed and must be learnt about.   This is Andy Warhol in the film form.     Now,rnlooking back....we have to know our history.  rnrnrn

An intense, moving film which explores with gritty realism the damage caused by prolonged drug use against a backdrop of art, photography, beautifully shot scenes and a burgeoning love story.  The relationship between Lucy and Sid is complex and believable, the love between Greta and Lucy is destructive and desolate but all-consuming.  A slow-paced film, extremely well acted and engaging.  Thoroughly enjoyed.

A little-known but brilliant film from Lisa Cholodenko (The Kids Are All Right). Widely and very unfairly rejected by the LGBT community for being a negative portrayal of queer characters when it was first doing the festival circuit, it is high time to revisit this film, which in my opinion is one of the best queer films ever made. The emotions are so raw they practically leap out of the screen and throttle you. Radha Mitchell gives a career-best performance - this is the film that should have rocketed her into the Hollywood A list, but due to its subject matter (this was the nineties, remember!) it was not to be. Massive kudos to Mitchell for taking on this role at the time, she really shines. Not to be outdone, Ally Sheedy and Patricia Clarkson make for excellent supporting ladies. Can't recommend this one enough. Watch it!
