Gillian Flynn's novel 'Gone Girl' left me speechless and when I found out there was a movie in the making, I thought that it would be incredibly hard material to work with as it's a complex piece of writing. Nevertheless, David Fincher was evidently the director for the job. With a strong filmography including Fight Club, Se7en and The Social Network (to name a few), Fincher clearly shows that he is a director who isn't afraid to make dark and daring thrillers and this is seen in Gone Girl which is what makes the movie work. Any other director in Hollywood would have probably changed the narrative to make it more suitable for a Hollywood audience but Fincher sticks to the style and themes he is known for to create one of the best thriller's I've seen this year.
