It is a rare and beautiful achievement when a film lives up to all of its hype. Gone Girl destroyed me; it left me sobbing and agape with horror. Quite a feat Mr Fincher. This mesmerising crime drama turns the intimacy of the disappearance of Nick’s wife, Amy, into a public spectacle, as he becomes the chief suspect of her murder. Driven by Affleck and Pike’s hypnotically captivating performances, Gone Girl grapples with illusion, mystery, and façades, whilst constantly teasing us with the tantalising threat of violence. I wasn't entertained. I was horrified. And yet – in spite of the protagonists’ truly monstrous natures – I couldn’t help but sympathise with both of their predicaments, which is a testament to the brilliance of the acting. Not one for the fainthearted, Gone Girl is a gut punch that’ll have you crouched at the edge of your seat throughout. An extraordinary and heart-breaking film.

I know books and their movies should be viewed as separate material but when you're an avid fan of something, you become protective of it. :) So I was skeptical about watching Gone Girl. But I wanted to see it because I was curious how Ben Affleck, Rosamund Pike and David Fincher could pull it off. I was surprised to find myself in awe of Pike's portrayal of Amy. She's just how I've imagined her to be in my head. She was just born for the role and Affleck did not disappoint either. I agree that this is one of those movies which deserves praise equivalent to its original material.

  • A film with a very dark concept that soon comes to light when the end reaches. A film of puzzles and mysteries. Must watch!

  • As I've already read the book, there won't be any surprise but with David Fincher directing, this film is definitely worth checking.
