Watching the film elicits a lot of emotions from viewers. Set in Japan in the '60s, the movie that centers on a drag queen named Eddie has many cinematic ideas that have become sort of a model for the films of latter years. The art film techniques including the shifts in style and tone,  the unreal yet affecting violent scenes and more, all these add up to its general appeal and charm. This has been said to be Director Stan Kubrick's film "Clockwork Orange" and for a movie that tackles the search for identity and love this is nevertheless a classic one that today's generation of cinephiles should better check out and watch,  to know what Japanese gay cinema is all about, back in the hey days.
