Five Dances Synopsis

FIVE DANCES, written and directed by Alan Brown, is a creatively adventurous narrative feature film set in the New York 'downtown' modern dance world. The story follows the rocky emotional journey of an 18-year old dancer (the amazing Ryan Steele) with talent to burn, who must choose between his responsibility to his broken family in the Midwest, and forging a life and career for himself. The film features five of New York's most gifted dancers acting on film for the very first time, and performing the choreography of internationally acclaimed choreographer Jonah Bokaer.

Sensual and captivating! Ryan Steele is a sight to behold in this movie. He wasn't only great in conveying his emotions and of his inner conflicts but he was also a powerhouse in the dance floor.  The modern dance interpretations and the choreography were mesmerizing, coupled with great musical score.  This is a film that not only presents one person's  inner struggles and conflicts but also how he interacts to his co-dancers, with one of them being romantically-linked to him.  One can only marvel at the well-toned bodies with their well-exhibited dance moves that combines ballet and modern dance interpretations.  Steele won Best Actor Award from Iris  Prize Festival for this movie. Worth watching especially if you're a fan of the creative arts and dancing!

Mesmerizing and heartwarming!  I was totally mesmerized with the dance moves and fluid choreography featured in this movie and for one moment I wished I can dance like that! Ryan Steele stars in this movie as Chip, talented dancer from Kansas. This is a movie about pursuing your dreams,  the love of dance and the arts and of gay romance, among others. While viewers appreciate the interactions of characters it's mostly about the love and dedication for dance that was very much highlighted in this movie.  Commendable performances and overflowing talent!
