Herzog and Kinski came together once more in 1982, despite the reported animosity between the director and actor, and cinephiles the world over are ever grateful they did. The result was Fitzcarraldo, a madcap piece of cinematic brilliance. Herzog is the determined yet evidently detached Brian Sweeney Fitzgerald, a rubber barron looking for one final payday in order to finish his opera house in the Amazon jungle. Cue paranoia, treachery, mistrust and mayhem in the gorgeous South American forests. A must watch for any lover of world cinema from the past.
