Edna Synopsis

The movie Edna is a unique take about real and imagined fears of overseas Filipino workers. Staged in three parts- the film attempts to walk the audience from a thrilling arrival to an astonishing departure.

I give this a four stars because of the impressive performance of Irma Adlawan as Edna. A well-respected local actress, she has been all too often relegated to portray support/character roles but this movie where she plays the lead is living witness that she can hurdle lead roles as well. This film tackles the conflicts, ills and consequences when a loved one, albeit the mother (the light of the home) goes abroad in search of greener pastures. This is an issue close to home as the country has been witness to increasing overseas foreign workers in recent years.  Many Filipinos can closely relate to the problems that Edna experienced, that's for sure.
