Taste the fury.
Chocolate Synopsis

From the makers of Ong-Bak and Warrior King comes another no stunt-doubles action spectacle, starring JeeJa Yanin in her film debut as the autistic Zen seeking to settle her mother’s debts.

Sin was once a prominent member of the most feared mafia gang in Thailand and mistress to its notorious leader, the ruthless Number-8. Now suffering from leukaemia, the only way to raise money for treatment is for her daughter, Zen, to seek out her old underworld contacts and collect aged debts. Blessed with an incredible ability to mimic the fighting moves of her favourite action heroes, Zen proves an awesome match for those who stand in her way. However, when Number 8 decides that the money belongs to him, Zen is faced with a full-on battle for survival.

“…ends up with a bloodbath that outdoes Uma Thurman's climactic fight in Tarantino's Kill Bill: Vol 1.” - The Guardian

Although it lacks a star with the talent of Tony Jaa (who director Prachya Pinkaew previously worked with on Ong-Bak and Warrior King), Chocolate is a great little martial arts film with a big heart punctuated by breathtaking action choreography. It’s true, as many critics were quick to highlight, Chocolate suffers from over-sentimentality, but its unusual narrative and awesome fight scenes certainly compensate for it.

Jeeja Yanin is truly a force to reckon with. Her martial arts and muay thai skills are extraordinary and she has also acting potentials. I learned she specializes in taekwondo and Tony Jaa was her trainer so I know she's in good hands and in the right track on her career. I look forward to more projects from this lady extraordinaire, for sure, no man in his right mind will have the guts to mess up with her (wink!). Do watch this film, guys!
