"It is usually too late before one realizes something is gone forever". These are the words of one of the members of the Love the Earth program who are expressing their concern and alarm for the continuing modernization of Taiwan.  The development and change, while it signals progress and more access to decent living conditions has also threatened the ecological balance, displacing animals and fowls and the scene where migratory birds look lost and displaced with the disappearing lakes and swamps to give way to highways and buildings is very heartbreaking.  This is surely a universal concern that countries all over the world should reevaluate in order to prevent total destruction to nature and to the animal kingdom.
