This is outright funny and  it shows how a story, regardless if it was true or fabricated,  can change people's perspectives.   This is a quirky take on what goes on in people's minds and , save for the zombie-like apparition seen by the postman, there was no other horror factor in here.  I had a handful of laughs,  this I'm sure.  And yes, the message is clear,  never believe everything that people say to you, especially if you've only met them now, not even a prim and proper girl.
