An astounding emotional journey of a film which has left even cast and director at loggerheads. The film follows the love story of the student-turned teacher Adèle and artist Emma (Adèle Exarchopoulos and Léa Seydoux) although the main focus of the film is Adèle who does, without a doubt, steal the limelight. From her underwhelming relationship at the beginning to her newfound lesbian infatuation with Emma comes the discovery of true love, a love which is raw and passionate, intense but not sustainable. Even in love we learn that loneliness is never far from hand, ready to strike at even the slightest change in circumstance. Adèle's messy tears are the end to more than one scene in this film.
