Red Balloon was still fresh in my head when I watched this film. Who could've guessed children could be this sociopathic? Although, I find Red Balloon creepier, I find Beating Hearts to be more disturbing. It's not expository in style, so I'm a bit conflicted if that should be a minus, however, I like the idea that it has gotten its audience imagining a backstory. In a beautiful countryside home, what could possibly be wrong with the family that resides in there? How could one child be so free from guilt or emotions. And what could possibly have brought about the family's demise? So many questions and so many potential answers in my mind right now.
