This film tries to depict the struggles and hardships of a Pinay overseas worker in the US.  This makes for an interesting topic, with the country being known to have countless overseas workers scattered all over the world. An earlier film titled "Anak" by Vilma Santos comes to mind when I viewed this film, as it was also from a mother's vantage point, a mother who has no choice but to be away from family in order to make a living in a foreign land and be able to provide financially to the family back home.  Pokwang, a popular comedienne gives a stellar performance as the lead character and deviates from her usual wacky roles.  Other commendable performances were by character actor Noni Buencamino as the husband, Rayver Cruz as the son and  Daria Ramirez as  Medy's mother.
