Arnaud Desplechin surely is in the Top current French directors list; "My Sex Life... or How I Got Into an Argument", "Kings and queen" or more recently, his first English-language feature, "Jimmy P." are enough proofs. A CHRISTMAS TALE is no different, and offers 'la crème de la crème' of French actors (Deneuve, Consigny, Amalri, Roussillon). With a sharp and dark sense of humour and passive agressive behaviour, the film keeps the audience interested as some of the family relationships' problems might echo too well to one's personal life. I would recommend it for any French film lovers or Frenchies with a nostalgia for some family drama.
