2012 Synopsis

Dr. Adrian Helmsley, part of a worldwide geophysical team investigating the effect on the earth of radiation from unprecedented solar storms, learns that the earth's core is heating up. He warns U.S. President Thomas Wilson that the crust of the earth is becoming unstable and that without proper preparations for saving a fraction of the world's population, the entire race is doomed. Meanwhile, writer Jackson Curtis stumbles on the same information. While the world's leaders race to build "arks" to escape the impending cataclysm, Curtis struggles to find a way to save his family. Meanwhile, volcanic eruptions and earthquakes of unprecedented strength wreak havoc around the world.

Watching this in the theater was AMAZING! This is one you need a large TV for and a dark room! It's amazing! The images that occur are breath taking! And... more
Watching this in the theater was AMAZING! This is one you need a large TV for and a dark room! It's amazing! The images that occur are breath taking! And this could have happened! Or can later in our lives! And the idea that the government has back up plans for these things that normal people like you and I will be left out of is a HUGE thing to ponder on. Congrats to the cast! Job well done.

I agree with you. Great cinematography.  I wonder if we are ready for this though. It seems like the government in every nation is busy taking pride of their works and not collaborating with others. It's much more frightening given the current  status quo.
