The film that everyone says is Stanley Kubrick's best is, undoubtedly, a marvel to behold. However, for me it will always be The Shining. Here, it just drags on too long. The incredible sets smother the actors, and the whole scale and scope of the time and space and matter storyline literally swallows up the whole film, disappearing into its own black hole. Incredible, inimitable story-telling, a true extra-sensory experience.
