After In The Family, I was really excited to see this. However, it wasn't for me. But that doesn't mean it isn't a good film. It may be looked back upon with kinder eyes. It felt like Wang was taking a step back and setting out his stall, trying different things, looking at innovative ways of telling a story, experimenting. It's interesting to see an American director do this on only his second feature and is a sign of great things to come.
