Rape-revenge storylines are nothing new, and this film doesn't add much to make it truly stand out amongst the likes of Straw Dogs, The Virgin Spring and Last House on the Left. What it does offer though is some beautiful cinematography and an ethereal soundtrack, making this a much more meditative approach to a harrowing event. Harumi Inoue does the best she can with a character who is frustratingly difficult to unpeel. Not as good as 'Gonin', but a very different film all the same.
