Asia Argento excels at directing children in this wacky ode to the highs and lows of growing up in a screwed up family of egotists (a nod to her own upbringing is a dead cert). The camera is all over the place, as are some performances, notably those of Charlotte Gainsbourg and Gabriel Garko, lapping it up as hedonistic Mum and Dad. The excitable, jittery narrative comes oh so close to grating, but you end up falling in love with the main protagonist - wide-eyed Giulia Salerno - she carries you along despite it all. Mad, brazen, punky and crazy - I fell for it.

Not for me
